A day of fishing works for a sales team or a client group as well as it does for family and friends. Two options in the CDM Yachts fleet cover very different versions of that day: a focused sportfishing trip built for anglers, and a slower-paced luxury fishing charter built around comfort.

Two Ways to Fish as a Group

For a team that wants rods in the water and a predictable price, Jesse Girl runs half-day and full-day trips with flat package pricing. For a client day or a smaller leadership outing, comfort can matter as much as the catch. The McKinna 69 covers that version, with a private luxury fishing charter offered at an additional cost to its yacht charter rate. They depart from different marinas, so the right pick often comes down to what kind of day your group wants.

Half-Day, Full-Day and Offshore Trips Aboard Jesse Girl

Jesse Girl is a 2005 Carolina Express 28' departing Shelter Island Marina, with twin 260hp Volvo diesel engines and a cruising speed of 25 knots. She carries 2024 Raymarine electronics, a 100-gallon bait tank, a tuna tower, oversized kill boxes and plenty of rod holders, and exceeds U.S. Coast Guard safety requirements with additional safety gear aboard.

Three packages fit most team outings:

  • Half-Day Fishing Excursion — 6 hours, $1,700. Local hotspots for yellowtail, bonito, barracuda, calico bass, rockfish, lingcod, sculpin, halibut, white seabass and more.
  • Full-Day Inshore Expedition — 12 hours, $2,125. The same inshore species, with twice the time on the water.
  • Full-Day Offshore Adventure — 12 hours, $2,550. Bluefin tuna, yellowfin tuna, yellowtail, dorado and other sportfish further offshore.

Every trip includes complimentary water, soda and ice, snacks, and an onboard refrigerator and microwave. Because pricing is set by the package rather than by headcount, it's easy to budget a team outing ahead of time. Final quotes still depend on the date, duration and group size, so confirm specifics when you request a date.

A Luxury Day on the Water: The McKinna 69

For client entertaining or a smaller executive group, the McKinna 69 runs private luxury fishing charters for up to 13 guests, departing Mission Bay rather than Shelter Island. The trip is offered at an additional cost on top of the yacht's charter rate and can be customized around the season and target species.

The appeal here is less about matching a dedicated sportfisher and more about the yacht itself. A climate-controlled Skylounge gives guests somewhere to retreat between bites, and fin stabilization keeps the ride steady. It's a different kind of day than the trips aboard Jesse Girl. It's built for guests who want the fishing without giving up the comfort of a private yacht.

The McKinna 69 departs Mission Bay. That's worth considering if your group is already planning around that side of San Diego rather than Shelter Island.

Picking the Right Trip for Your Group

A few questions tend to settle it:

  • How much of the day is about fishing, versus the experience around it? A team that wants to fish most of the trip fits Jesse Girl's packages. A group that wants a few hours of fishing inside a broader yacht day fits the McKinna 69 better.
  • What's the budget per group? Jesse Girl's flat package pricing is easy to divide across a team. The McKinna 69's fishing charter is quoted against its own charter rate, so ask for a number based on your date and group size.
  • Which marina works for your group's starting point? Jesse Girl departs Shelter Island Marina. The McKinna 69 departs Mission Bay.

Either option also pairs well with a broader corporate event on the water, if your company is weighing a fishing day against a more traditional charter. Corporate charters tend to book out fastest on Friday evenings and in the November–December holiday season. The same lead time is worth planning around for a fishing day.
