Most anglers start with the same question: which trip should we book? CDM Yachts runs three private sportfishing trips aboard Jesse Girl, a 2005 Carolina Express 28' that departs Shelter Island Marina. For bigger groups, the McKinna 69 also runs luxury fishing charters. Here's how they compare.
The Three Trips Aboard Jesse Girl
- Half-Day Fishing Excursion: 6 hours, $1,700. Local hotspots for Yellowtail, Bonito, Barracuda, Calico Bass, Rockfish, Lingcod, Sculpin, Halibut, White Seabass and more.
- Full-Day Inshore Expedition: 12 hours, $2,125. A longer inshore day pursuing Yellowtail, Bonito, Barracuda, White Seabass, Calico Bass, Rockfish, Lingcod, Sculpin and Halibut.
- Full-Day Offshore Adventure: 12 hours, $2,550. Offshore for Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Yellowtail, Dorado and other sportfish.
Pricing depends on the date, duration and group size, and final quotes are confirmed at booking.
Which Trip Fits
If tuna is the goal, book offshore. Bluefin and yellowfin are on the offshore trip's list, and offshore tuna trips take the full 12 hours to reach and work the best grounds, so plan on the whole day.
If you want a full day without the run offshore, book the full-day inshore trip. It goes after the same inshore species as the half-day, with twice the time to work them.
If fishing is one part of a busier day, book the half-day. Six hours on local spots still gives you a real shot at yellowtail, bass and bonito.
Still deciding? Call us at (619) 866-6966. The best trip depends on what's biting that week and what your group wants from the day.
About the Boat
Jesse Girl runs twin 260hp Volvo diesel engines and cruises at 25 knots, with 2024 Raymarine electronics, a 100-gallon bait tank, a tuna tower, oversized kill boxes and plenty of rod holders. She exceeds U.S. Coast Guard safety requirements and carries additional safety gear. Water, soda, ice and snacks are included, along with an onboard refrigerator and microwave.
A Bigger Group, or a Luxury Day Offshore
The McKinna 69 is also available for private luxury fishing charters, at an additional cost to the yacht charter. Trips can be customized around the season and target species. The McKinna carries up to 13 guests from Mission Bay, with a climate-controlled Skylounge to retreat to between bites. See the McKinna 69.
Before You Go
- Bring layers. Mornings offshore run cooler than the marina.
- Conditions can change fast on the water, so your captain may adjust the route.
