Costumes, Decorations, and What to Bring
Guests are welcome to bring their own food and drinks, including alcohol, on every CDM Yachts charter. Decorations are welcome too, but as with any charter, check with our team on what's practical for the specific vessel before bringing anything elaborate — every yacht has different deck space, storage, and layout, so what works on the Westport 100's main-deck lounge may not fit the Sea Ray 52's salon the same way.
One planning note specific to costumes: think about footwear. Boat decks are covered in areas but can still see some ocean spray, so a costume with delicate fabric or footwear that isn't secure on a boat deck is worth a backup plan.
Picking Your Departure Time
Halloween charters tend to split into two shapes. An early-evening departure (roughly 5–8pm) catches sunset over the bay and works well for a group that wants to be back on land for a later bar or house party. A later departure (8pm or after) turns the whole charter into the main event — cruising the harbor lights and the downtown skyline after dark, with the Coronado Bridge and passing boat traffic as the backdrop instead of a bar's string lights.
Either way, remember every charter has a 2-hour minimum, and most Halloween groups book 3 to 5 hours — enough time to actually settle into the party without paying for a full day nobody needs.
